My Thoughts:
Alessandra Torre is becoming one of my favorite erotica authors. I have read most of her books and loved them. I went into Black Lies with high expectations, thinking that I would love it. It had a lot of buzz surrounding it, and the “giant plot twist” that people couldn’t stop talking about. I was disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed it, but I didn’t like it as much as her other books. It just didn’t hold that magic that her books normally make me feel.

Throughout most of the book, I was bored. The plot just felt like it was dragging and dragging. The beginning was confusing because I had no idea what the heck was going on when Brant was gambling and Lana came down. Because I was so confused, I found it hard to get through. It almost made me lose interest, but I kept pressing on because I had heard everyone else talk about how fantastic the book was. It just never got to that fantastic spot for me. I figured out what the big plot twist was shortly after we met Lee. From that point on, I was just bored. Also, I couldn’t stand Lana, the main character. Everything she did drove me crazy. There were points in the book where I just wanted to jump in the book, and shake her. There were a few things about the book that I did like. I enjoy Alessandra’s flowly writing style. I also enjoyed Brant and Lee, especially Lee.

Even though this book didn’t hold the enjoyment of Alessandra’s other books for me, I will still continue to read her books and be a loyal fan. This one just wasn’t my cup of tea. If you enjoyed her other books, and the things I mentioned above don’t bother you, I suggest trying this one. I seem to be in the minority with not liking it.

I give Black Lies: 2.5/5.
